Re-Organize your Closet

Empty the entire closet. Weed out items as you go throwing out or setting aside what you haven't used in years. If you haven't used it in these past years chances are you won't be using it anytime soon.

Clean the closet thoroughly, vacuum the floor and baseboards and wipe down the shelving. If you plan on painting use a high gloss paint for easier cleaning in the future.

Install a light that will turn off when the door is closed.

Categorize your clothes according to season, type and color, Items that go together should stay together. Store the clothes and shoes you wear most often within reach.

Buy sturdy hangers, this will help the clothes keep their shape longer. Never store clothes in plastic bags, plastic keeps clothes from breathing and also can cause discoloration. (Plastic is a hazard if small children are around) Always use garment bags, use dark colored ones which won't let the light through.

Hang hats and small bags on hooks or pegs. Large purses can be stored on shelves. Roll belts and place them in a basket or bin.
